The work

Resold access to closed models. A miner brings its own Anthropic, OpenAI, Google or other provider keys into a confidential virtual machine on Phala Cloud, declares which models it serves at what discount off gm's retail price, and serves buyer requests the gateway routes to it. The index lists the miner repository, taostat/gm-miner; the validator lives in taostat/gm-validator.

own docs · docs.saygm.com

GM miners supply upstream model capacity and earn the spread between their declared offer and GM's buyer price.

How it is scored

Dollars served. Each epoch the gm-operated finalizer publishes an artifact set to a public bucket; the validator sums each miner's earnings plus surcharge in nano-dollars across every product it served, and does not re-derive cost or re-verify signatures. Reliability appears on the miners page but is not in the weight formula at the pinned commit.

code · raw.githubusercontent.com · validator/src/gm_validator/scoring.py

A miner's epoch score is the sum of earnings_ndollars + surcharge_ndollars across every product they served.

How the pay splits

Cap and burn. A miner's weight is the dollars it served divided by the dollar value of the epoch's miner pool: 41 percent of the alpha issued that epoch, at the close price. Whatever the pool exceeds total served dollars is set as weight on the owner UID 3, the burn. If demand exceeds the pool, miners share it pro rata and the burn is rounding dust.

code · raw.githubusercontent.com · validator/src/gm_validator/alpha_economics.py

weight_i = consumed_usd_i / pool_usd where pool_usd = emissions_alpha * MINER_EMISSION_PCT * alpha_price_usd; MINER_EMISSION_PCT = Decimal("0.41")

Who judges

Twelve validators were active on the 2026-09-09 chain snapshot. Commit-reveal is on; the weights rate limit is 1 block and the bonds moving average is 0. Validators do not see requests: each mirrors the finalized epoch artifacts from a public bucket, treats them as authoritative, and computes only the weight vector, re-deriving no cost and re-verifying no signature.

commit_reveal_weights_enabled True, weights_rate_limit 1, bonds_moving_avg 0; chain-2026-09-09.json active_validators 12

How often it turns

Emission settles every 360 blocks, about 72 minutes. The validator defines an epoch as 361 blocks, tempo plus one, and scores only the newest closed epoch, once. The miners page on 2026-09-19 listed epoch 25,203 finalized at 02:28 UTC and 25,204 at 03:42 UTC. A new registration is immune from deregistration for 3,600 blocks, about 12 hours.

Who buys

Developers paying per million tokens through an OpenAI-compatible gateway at api.saygm.com/v1, signing up by email, Google or Bittensor with no card required. No customer is named. The miners page publishes every finalized epoch: epoch 25,222, finalized 2026-09-20 01:38 UTC, carried $702.74 of traffic over 13,712 requests across 59 earning miners.

What has been gamed

No incident is recorded. The validator zeroes any miner the finalizer marks blacklisted, so a banned hotkey earns nothing that epoch. On the miner side, the gateway checks that each reply echoes the model the offer claims, provider keys sit in verified key slots inside the TEE, and the miner image is pinned by digest and attested. No public log of gaming was found on the site, docs or repositories.

What it shows

Explained from zero by the index, from the subnet's own materials, for someone who has never heard of Bittensor.

Explained from zero · inference · written 2026-09-10

SN28 SayGM is a resellers' market for the big AI models, where brokers holding their own Claude, GPT, and Gemini accounts underbid the list price for the same answer, and the deal is done inside a sealed booth.

The commodity, explained from zero

The commodity is inference from the biggest closed models: sending a prompt to Claude, GPT, or Gemini and getting the reply, metered per million tokens, the word-pieces those models count. SayGM sells the same replies for less than the makers' list prices. Its front page says "27% Cheaper than list, on average" and "Never more than list," with a live price table.

It can be cheaper because SayGM does not run the models. Miners are the brokers: "you bring your own provider capacity, bid a discount off gm's retail price, and earn on the traffic you serve."

Who buys: developers. The front page tells them to "Point Cursor, Cline, Claude Code, or your AI SDK at the gm gateway. One base URL. No rewrites." No customer is named, but the miners page publishes every finalized epoch: the one ending 2026-09-10 02:17 UTC carried $798.51 of traffic across 5,219 requests and 42 miners.

Why it is on Bittensor at all

First, price competition: instead of one middleman's margin, many miners bid against each other, and the miners page shows each one's discount. Second, privacy, which the subnet states as its difference: "Verified by hardware, not by policy." Every prompt is decrypted only inside a trusted execution environment, a locked compartment in an Intel processor that can prove what code it ran, so neither SayGM nor the miner's machine can read it. Here the comparison breaks: a ticket broker knows exactly who is travelling, while at SayGM neither the gateway nor the host machine is meant to see the buyer's prompt or the miner's own provider keys.

How the work gets done

Miners rent a confidential virtual machine on Phala Cloud, load their provider API keys into it, and declare which models they serve at what discount; "a 10% discount means you keep 90% of each per-Mtok dollar." The gateway routes buyer requests to miners, checks that each reply echoes the model it claims to be, and records reliability. What the materials do not describe is how validators turn that into on-chain weights: the miners page says every earning is "recomputable from the public epoch artifacts," and the README covers attestation and key handling, but no document states a formula for emission, the subnet's share of newly minted TAO (inferred: the share and reliability columns on the miners page are the inputs).

How you would know it works

The miners page at https://saygm.com/miners shows a dated, finalized epoch with traffic value, request count, and per-miner share, reliability, and discount. Each model page, such as https://saygm.com/models/claude-sonnet-4-6, carries benchmarks dated 2026-08-20 and measured throughput over recent requests.

What is missing

There is no incentive document: nothing in prose says how weights or emissions are set. No hardware or Phala cost is stated for miners, and the registration cost is not mentioned. There is no status page or SLA; the terms promise no uninterrupted access. No Discord is set on chain.

Metaphor: a resellers' market where brokers underbid the list price for the same seat. Every claim is drawn from the evidence set or the subnet's own materials; "(inferred)" marks a conclusion rather than a quote. Corrections.
